As a huge pro cycling fan I was thrilled to learn that this years Tour of California would begin in Lake Tahoe. One of the most beautiful places in the world. It just so happens that my awesome boss has a family vacation home there, so off we went to enjoy the race. I was already in San Francisco for meetings, so Dan flew out to meet me and our good buddy Shellie for the trip to Tahoe. A little wine tasting along the way. Beautiful weather. Until…we got to Tahoe. The night before the race about a foot of snow dumped on the area. And it continued snowing…and snowing… IT’S MID MAY!! Hello??
Stage one was scheduled to begin in South Lake Tahoe. It was cancelled on the starting line. But Shellie and I got to see lots of teams hanging around the area. And we even met Bob Roll. Awesome!
On the way back to the house in Truckee, we saw dozens of cars off the road. The conditions were not suitable for driving around the lake, let alone racing a bike around it!
Stage two was moved further south to avoid the snow. So we missed that one all together. Oh well. Still a fun time though. Click the picture below to view lots of photos!
Tomorrow evening is Balluminaria at Eden Park. Come on out and see us. Dan and I will be there with Suncatcher.
Fun morning today. Fox 19 morning news came out to do a Balluminaria promo with Bella Balloons and Smiley. We were chilly but we had a great time. Here’s the edited video:
It’s been a while, but I’ve finally got the bare bones of McDeb.com up and running again. I’ll use this site to post about my 3 favorite things. Technology, Ballooning and Cycling. That’s a real niche site, huh? Pretty safe bet that this site will be one of a kind and totally weird.
