Using 2002 Themes in Dashboard -- Yes You Can!!

You love Dashboard. You love PPC 2002 today themes. Can you use them both? YES! Here's how:

First, make sure you are using the latest full version of Dashboard. In your Today settings choose the theme that you want to use. Under items, make sure Dashboard is checked, and un-check the default calendar, tasks, etc. Now go to your Dashboard settings. Under the skins tab, choose "use today theme". That's it! Dashboard will display the theme that you have currently selected as active in your today settings.

One note: if you are running Dashboard as a stand-alone application as opposed to a today plug-in, Dashboard will not use the font color of the specified today theme, it will appear in black. Running Dashboard as a today plug-in works around this issue.

Here's a screenshot of Dashboard working happily with the Seabreeze 2002 theme.

Use Dashboard. Use themes. Be happy!

Deb, I'm so glad you're back up! You are just a wealth of information. I had no idea I could use 2002 themes with Dashboard. I love the themes, but missed the mini-launcher. Now we have the best of both worlds. Thanks for sharing.

Hi..sorry to bother you with this but I'm sure you explained everything to a "T" but I am still not able to use my dashboard and theme together. I went through your instructions but when I went to the skins tab there is no place that I can "chose todays theme"?? I am new to this whole pocket pc thing and am just wondering if I did something wrong. I'm not sure how to access my dashboard settings. I just went into my today setting and under the Item tab I only have the dashboard selected and nothing else was selected. You mentioned a "default calendar, task...etc" selection but none of them were selected. How do I get to the "Dashboard settings"? Because like I said before under my skins tab there is no tab that says "use today theme" I love all your themes and I would appreciate it if you can help. Thanks, Michelle

Michelle: I am assuming you are in fact using PPC 2002. If so, make sure you are running the latest full version of Dashboard.

Thnx for your info but I have the same problem that michelle has and it may be related to the fact that even though I am using PPC 2002 the version of dashboard that I and others may be using comes from Compaq. I'm not sure why they would remove the "Use Today Theme" but there is no such choice under the skins tab as you mention. Thnx smile

Hi Deb,
I love your themes but I have Dashboard install on ppc2002 and can't seem to load them onto my dashboard skins. I'm not sure if I have the full version of dashboard. Is there a link that I can go to find out? Thanks

I have an hp h1945 and am running the latest version of dashboard and wisbar advanced. The problem I have is that when I select a dashboard theme the bars at the top and bottom of the screen don't use theme graphics automatically even though I have selected "Allow skin to alter Bar apps" under the General tab of Dashboard! Please help!

thanks - - Brice Hebert
