Blast from the Past
Dan and I stayed home tonight and watched some mindless TV. A special celebrating NBC Studio's 75th anniversary aired tonight. Great memories, but boy do I feel old now. When you can remember the lines from an episode of "Chico and the Man", that can't be good. "Sandford and Son", "Laugh In", "CHiPS", "Rockford Files", "Quincy", "Night Court". Remember those?
I was recently asked an interesting question. If you could go back in time to experience life in any particular period, what era would you choose? I honestly could not think of an answer. I'd prefer to go forward. Say maybe 100 years or so. I guess that's probably the geek in me talking. I would want to see what technology will be like when my grandchildren are grown. Going back to the depression, or the days of the gold rush just would not interest me. However, I can be nostalgic. I have fond memories of my first car. A 1971 Dodge Dart. My collection of 8-track tapes and 45's. Crosby, Stills and Nash. Jackson Browne. James Taylor, The Doobie Brothers. Watching the Carol Burnett show and the first season of Saturday Night Live. Those were good times.
Think I'll go dust off my old Helen Reddy albums, look for my Pet Rock, turn on the lava lamp and have a nice cold glass of TAB.
