Vacation Photos

Whew! I'm beat. Had a really great time, but now I need a vacation to recover from vacation! My sister-in-law and her husband recently built a beautiful cabin in Blairsville Georgia. We got the entire clan together to celebrate Dan's mom's 70th birthday and our nephew's graduation from high-school. He is leaving for the Army in a couple of weeks, so this was a great time for a family reunion and a white-water rafting trip. I took a lot of pictures. Click on the links below to view the slide-shows.

The Big Show: This first slide show is a larger view, and includes all of the pictures together. Better for broadband connections. For dial-ups, use the separate categories below.

Rafting the Nantahala River: What a great time this was. I can't wait to do it again. The Nantahala is actually in North Carolina. We all took a little road trip, piled into a raft and had one wild ride! I have one word about this river: COLD! About 48 degrees to be exact.

Rafting the Ocoee River: We did not actually raft this river, but we stopped on the way home to get a view. The Ocoee is a little more challenging than the Nantahala, and it sure looks like fun. We plan to hit this one next trip. These pictures are really incredible.

Cathy and Robert's Cabin: A few pix of the cabin. Plunked in the middle of nowhere, and surrounded by mountains, this place is beautiful. The cat in these photos has apparently adopted our family. Our niece has named her Nala. She just hangs out on the property. You will notice a sign out front that appropriately reads "Griswold's Family Reunion". If you have seen the National Lampoon Vacation movies you will get the joke. I think Dan is "Uncle Eddy".

The People Pictures: The family having some fun.

The Family Baseball Game: The crew set up an impromptu baseball game on the property. None of us will be quitting our day jobs.

Brasstown Bald: The view from Brasstown Bald is amazing. This is the highest spot in Georgia. Some of the family braved the .5 mile uphill hike to the top. One half mile is not a long way, but this is a VERY steep climb.

Chattahoochee National Forest: We took a nice long hike to get to the falls. I can't recall the name of the falls, but it sure was worth the hike.

Stuff Along the Way: Just some pictures of things we found along the way. The log cabin in these pictures is beautiful. It's built tree house style on the river. I want it!! There is a funny picture in here too. While sitting at a traffic light we noticed a very odd site. Take a look.

Looks like fun.

Yes! I am proud to say that none of us went swimming. We had a couple of close calls, but we all managed to stay in the boat.
