In memory...

Remember Blogathon 2002 last July? Many of you sponsored me as we raised money for the American Cancer Society. I participated in the Blogathon in the name of a dear friend who had recently been diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas. It is with sadness I tell you that he passed away earlier this evening.

By morning, you will probably hear of his passing on most national news reports. I am proud to have known Steve Young, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police. Steve dedicated his life to bettering the lives of law enforcement officers everywhere. He was recently appointed by President Bush to the Homeland Security Advisory Council. It was an honor to have known and worked with Steve. I will miss him dearly. He touched many many lives. If you are an American citizen, I can assure you that his work has impacted your life in some way.

Most of you know that it is very unlike me to write such an personal post. However, we must work harder to obliterate this cruel disease. Please make a donation to the American Cancer Society in memory of Steve Young (Marion, OH) or in the name of a loved one you may have lost to cancer.

With sincere thanks.

Debbie
