Data On The Run

Publisher: Biohazard Software
Category: Database
Price: $12.95

Finally! An inexpensive way to work with Access data on the Pocket PC!

Data On The Run includes a Table Creator and can be used as a stand-alone program even if you do not have Access for your desktop computer!

How it works:

Data On The Run will have you up and running in minutes. Just drag your Access database to the Pocket PC using the simple step by step instructions at http://www.biohazardsoftware.com/transfer.htm, and your database is ready to go with you! Drop the Pocket PC in the cradle, and your data tables are automatically synchronized with the desktop by ActiveSync®. Or, create a new database on the device with Data On The Run's table creator.

New form view automatically customizes itself to your data. Why spend hours designing a form for every table you open on the Pocket PC? The new << icon provides easy data viewing and entry. Fields that are True/False are automatically toggled between True and False with a tap of the << icon. For date fields, the << icon brings up a date picker. And for text or numeric fields, the << icon brings up a much larger "zoom" window, allowing you to see much more of your data.

Add, delete, or modify records. Create drop down choices for easier data entry. Customize the colors and column widths.

List View lets you see all your data together in a table. Click on a column header to sort by that column. You can also choose to add or delete records from this view. To edit a record, tap on that record and then tap on the form view tab, and make your changes!

Use the new query view to find specific records, or narrow down your recordset. You can find records that contain, are equal to, begin with, end with, are before, after, or between your search criteria without writing your own SQL commands! Save your queries for quick re-use later. Use the new all field search feature to find data across all fields!

Use the new table view to quickly switch between tables, create new tables, or delete existing tables.

You can install Data On The Run to main memory or the storage card. You may install your databases to the main memory or storage card, as long as they are in a "My Documents" folder. You can also store your database files wherever you'd like, and open them by tapping on the file using file explorer.

Nyditot Virtual Display is available here for 12.00. Here's a link: http://www.mcdeb.com/MT/archives/mcgear/000355.html
Allows you to run your PPC at different resolutions and screen orientations. It even pans and can change the system colors. It's pretty cool.

Hi Deb, how is your morning today. I have try the software, it seems to do what I want, before buying is there another one I can compare, to make sure I am doing the right thing. I have a stupid question for you. I bought a 5455 IPAQ. When I looked at the software I received, there was something for database, but I can't find it..the only thing I see is I can import and export database tables from the tool menu..

Hi Claude. You can read about what Pocket Access is in the ActiveSync help file under "Access". It's pretty much just a converter.

Another popular database app is HanDbase from DDH software. http://www.ddhsoftware.com/ I like both Data on the Run and HanDbase. Just depends on your personal preference.
