Mom Update

First, I want to take a minute to thank you for all of your supportive comments, email messages and prayers while we are dealing with my Mother's sudden illness. We finally have a diagnosis of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Mom is still very sick. On Tuesday she was taken by life-flight to a larger hospital with more expertise and round-the-clock specialists in the ICU. She remains on a ventilator and today was placed in a chemical induced coma. The doctors think if she improves over the weekend, they may be able to take her off the ventilator early next week. I'm told that she has a 60% chance of surviving this ordeal. But when I add Mom's incredibly strong will and faith, I come up with 100%. I like my math better. It has been an awful roller coaster ride, but we are hanging in there.

Mom and I are very very close (she's my best friend as well as the best Mom). I'm spending almost all of my time at the hospital for now. So, updates to the site will continue to be slow. I appreciate your patience.

For those interested in learning more about ARDS this is a great site. It has really helped to better educate me as to what we are dealing with here.

Thanks again for all of your kind comments. Please keep those prayers coming.

I'm wishing a speedy recovery for your Mom and hope you will be able to have her home by Christmas. I will add her to my prayers.

Deb,
I stand in agreement with other folks praying for healing and a full recovery for your Mom. I am certain about two things and two things only in this life...God doesn't make mistakes and nothing is impossible for Him to do. I will lift the doctors in prayer that God may give them wisdom in the care of your Mom. I also pray for you that God will give you divine peace and strength.

Deb, I know what His word says and I am a recipient of his healing touch and great mercy. Last year, this time, I faced a diagnosis of breast cancer. I stand today to tell you that I came through that season and the Lord blessed me during, after and continues to bless me. And it all began with something that appeared to be a death sentence.

Hang in there and look beyond the hills from where your help comes from.

In His love,
Yolanda

Thank you both so very much. I do find comfort in your comments. It amazes me how so many people are willing to show such open and caring support for someone they have never met. I am keeping a daily journal to give to Mom WHEN she gets through this. All of your comments will be included in it. She has dedicated her entire life to helping other people; I know that she will be touched by your kind words. Thank you.

Thanks for the update on your Mom, Deb. We're all united in praying for your Mom and offering what support we can - wherever in the world we are. Your Mom sounds a very special person, and a strong fighter too.. Hang on in there, and we'll hope and pray for some positive news very soon. The website will look after itself until then - Just be there for 'McMom' OK?

Our thoughts are also with Dan and your daughter.

I second everything that everyone else has said. Stay close to your family right now. We will all be here waiting patiently when McMom is well and you are all rested up. Margarette

Yup, we are all praying for you and your Mom. The Lord knows what's in store for us all but prayers are the only way to communicate with Him. Whenever I am in doubt or fear, I ask for guidance, direction, patience and most of all to be able to understand the outcome whether good or bad.

It sounds like your Mom is a real fighter though so she should be with us for a long time to come.

You and yours are in our prayers.

I don't post regularly, but visit this site religiously. Today at work, I found myself wondering how your Mom was, as I would any friend. This time I could not just read everyone else's comments but had to add my own in extending my thoughts and prayers during this time. God bless.

The prayer chain grows larger by the day kids. Hang in there. You are in our prayers constantly, as is mom. Remember that while doctors are great, there is only One Healer (as even doctors themselves will admit.) As you know, I've been there myself and all we can do is trust, pray, love and wait. Still and all, I agree with YOUR math Deb. How IS the rest of the family doing?

Tammi-Thank you for your comments. I really appreciate your support.

Sandy and Doc- Thanks. We are all trying very hard to trust that everything will be allright. But, as you know, it's so hard. Hundreds are praying for Mom and our family. We are hanging in there.

I just found this site yesterday and spent hours here. I'm back again, and find the news of your Mom. After all the fun and happiness you brought to me, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your Mom.
