McMom Update
For those of you who have been kind enough to offer prayers and get well wishes for my Mom (McMom), I just got some wonderful news. As of this morning, Mom is OFF the ventilator and breathing on her own. This is a huge step in the right direction and I could not be happier. We still have a long way to go in getting her strong enough to leave the hospital, but that will come in time. I was also told that her kidneys are functioning fine now as well. Probably no need for any further dialysis.
I'm leaving for the hospital now, but I just wanted to take a second to thank everyone for their prayers and kind words. I've just received the best Christmas gift imaginable.
UPDATED 7:00PM: I spoke too soon. Mom went into serious respiratory distress this afternoon and was put back on the ventilator. It looks like her airway is too swollen. They will probably do a tracheostomy tomorrow in order to allow the swelling to go down. What a rollercoaster ride this is. Every time it looks like things are improving, we get smacked with yet another setback. Thanks for your prayers everyone.

Well, now isn't the time to let up, we'll continue with our prayers Deb! I'll also send out a bit of a praise report to all of those I know are praying that you might not be hearing from on this end (positive builds positive!)

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Whilst every situaton is different, I know how you must be feeling. Earlier this year our 10-day old newborn had to undergo heart surgery and both my parents have also been hospitalised. Thankfully, all is now well. All I can say is be strong and have faith in those around you. Vernon.

We've been there (as you know) and you'll get through it with love and faith both of which you have in abundance. Don't think of them as setbacks Deb, just steps along the road that have to be taken to bring her back.

Hang in there, Deb. ARDS is a rough thing to go through but all of our prayers are there and she has shown great hope that she was able to even come off of the vent for the time that she did. Hold on! Like Sandy said, these are just steps along the road. Margarette
