Themes for VGA devices and WM 2003 SE
Good news for those of you with WM 2003 SE or VGA devices. All new themes posted here at Pocket McDeb will include 3 download links. Standard, VGA and SE. Here's a short description of each:
Standard: A typical 240x320 Pocket PC theme. Can be used with all Pocket PC devices (2002 or newer)
VGA: Pocket PC theme for use with VGA devices (portrait and landscape modes)
SE: Pocket PC theme for use with devices running windows mobile 2003 SE (portrait and landscape modes)
I'll be updating quite a few current themes to include VGA and SE versions. And, of course I'll be making lots of new ones. You will notice 2 new theme categories in the main menu (VGA and SE). This will make them easy for you to find.
I'll be keeping track of the downloads for a while to make sure there is sufficient interest in these new versions. If they continue to be popular, I'll keep cranking them out!
The first theme to get a VGA/SE makeover is "Silk":

Outstanding Deb!

This is GREAT! Finally, some high quality themes for my e805. Deb, my hat is off to you!

Thanks!
I love your themes, and just bought one pack, your thememaker, and downloaded several of the free themes. I have all of the SE versions you have created, and thought I might be able to use your ThemeMaker to convert some of the others to SE compatibility, but have not found a way to do so. I also bought KamWare's ThemeMaker Pro today, thinking it might let convert some themes, but I haven't figured out how to do so with either product. Some advice would be appreciated.
Thank you for the great work.
Bruce
Bruce: Converting them requires re-sizing the images. Because you would be sizing up, there is no way to do this without losing lots of image quality. Since I have the original high-res images that the themes were made from in the first place, I can convert most to the appropriate SE or VGA size.
Posted by: McDeb at August 8, 2004 8:21 PMThanks for the info McDeb! I did download ULead and am trying it out and will almost certainly buy it - I have some photos that I am converting to themes and I also love the pattern capability of ULead. Seems to have even more features than Fireworks 4.0 (the last version I used - haven't tried the new studio, as too expensive for me). ULead's pricing is amazing, too, so I appreciate you mentioning it on your site or I would likely not have heard of it.
Thanks again,
Bruce
Well. Very nice and helpfull.
800 thanks
but which one should we choose for a e800 (VGA 640X480) under SE ?

Posted by: pderathe at September 14, 2004 11:42 AMYou would want the VGA version.
Posted by: McDeb at September 17, 2004 8:48 PMI've got a PocketLoox 720 that I'm using with SE_VGA to give me full 480x640 VGA resolution.
I really like your themese, but they all seem to have wallpapers that are too small for me
Do any of the have the higher resolution wallpapers?
Derek, you must be downloading the wrong one. If you have a VGA device, you should download the VGA theme. I'm going to change the download lables because they seem to be confusing people. The VGA is also SE compatible. The SE should probably be labled QVGA.
Posted by: McDeb at October 8, 2004 10:50 AMHi Deb,
I'll shortly be changing my ever-faithful Dell Axim for a new all singing-and-dancing PDA with a VGA screen.
As I practically live with the 'Daily Grind for Men' as my PDA Today screen, is there any chance of VGA version? I don't even mind paying again!
BTW, tried the 'Buy' button against the theme (in case it gave me a VGA option) but the link wasn't working. Might be my PC playing up, but thought I'd mention it nevertheless.
